Robinsons Catering, is a family run business that has been providing exceptional quality nursery and corporate catering across Birmingham and the West Midlands for over 18 years. Dan Robinson, the owner and Dave, a director and manager’s team of experienced chefs and catering assistants create healthy, tasty meals for children and corporate teams alike. Every dish is prepared with care, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, ensuring safety, quality, and flavour for every occasion.

The Challenge

Robinsons Catering have a good track record but the kitchen is very busy and provides high volumes of food with tight service windows and this is when food safety support becomes essential.

Dave decided that he would like to work with Food Safety Logic consultants to take advantage of their expert food safety advice through an annual food safety audit, monthly updates and on demand access to their EHO trusted advice by signing up to one of their food safety advice packages.

Dave wanted the reassurance that the food they are making is safe and they are compliant with current food safety standards. He requested some guidance in focusing on the big issues like date labelling and food safety paperwork to ensure that his staff consistently get this right; giving him the reassurance that they are inspection ready when the inspector comes to call.

The Solution

Initially our consultant visited the premises to understand Robinson’s Catering business operations and completed a full food safety audit. Initially there were a few areas that were identified as needing some support:

  • HACCP plans - generation of new HACCP plans including Cook+Chill, Cook+Hot Hold, Ready to Eat and prepacked ambient food

  • Monitoring Records - design of new monitoring templates including an in-house manager’s audit

  • food labelling - review of current labels

  • allergen compliance - review of allergen information

Dave has signed up to a monthly business support package with Food Safety Logic to ensure that the business has ongoing trusted advice and support as the it continues to grow and expand, being:

  • unlimited email and telephone support

  • regular monthly and legal updates

  • free guides, templates and forms

  • annual audits

  • Food safety management system/HACCP plan review.
