There are lots of new initiatives to ensure customers with allergies can eat out safely and recently the Food Standards Agency have introduced ‘cut out and keep’ allergy cards for customers to give to restaurant/serving staff.
This initiative is another step towards keeping customers with allergens safe by letting staff know about a customer’s food allergies.
Food businesses must have controls in place to ensure cross contamination does not occur whilst preparing and serving a customer’s meal. Also accurate up-to-date allergen information must be available for customers with food allergies so they can make an informed choice on the food they eat.
